Battletech Painting Updates.
Some Battletech painting updates for this year.
This particular Ebon Mech model was a 3D printed figure I bought off Etsy, and the dynamic nature of the pose suggested that something ought to be under the raised leg. A wrecked mech would have been ideal, or a properly scaled combat vehicle, but I didn't have any of that, so I made a mech arm from scratch, using plasticard and wire. If you look closely, you can see that the ball joint on the arm is actually the end of a guitar string - it works very well for a mech joint!
I did the same thing with a pair of Hatchetmen mechs (also 3D printed): I thought it would be appropriate to have the mech hold something in the other hand, so I scratch-built a mech head - I'm not sure the head came out that well, and perhaps another mech arm would have been clearer, but I'm still quite pleased with how these two came out. The paint scheme had to be 10th Lyran Guards, of course.
In preparation for a game, I also painted up a lance of Federated Suns 17th Avalon Hussars:
And a generic lance in green camo - it's not quite finished yet, but I intend to eventually paint these as Eridani Light Horse:
